Holy cannoli how did 2018 get away from us so soon! It feels like a whirlwind! And yet we are just about to execute our first wedding of 2019!

The new year is always an exhilarating time of energy, new intentions and moving forward. But today we want to do a throw back and remember all the amazingness that 2018 brought us and more importantly- the people SSD Events was honored to work with.

My whole life I’ve been guilty of over using the word LOVE. I’ve been questioned about it too- how can you love everything and everyone? Um… I don’t know I just do! I can’t help it! I love our team, our friendors and our clients! And I love how that love is shared between all the planners on our crew! Might as well face it… we’re ADDICTED TO LOVE!

So I just want to prep you for the over abundance of LOVE you are going to hear about over the last twelve months. And you know what- I don’t think there is such a thing as too much LOVE! I say bring it on!
It’s already been broughten!

KIM & STEVE

Our year started on March 10th with the sassy and classy Kim and Steve (and of course their cat, Rupert) at the Marriott down town. We worked along side the fabulous Bliss Eleven, Push The Limit Band, and the queen of beauty Savanah Summer to name a few! Kim and Steve are the couple you want to be! They started their relationship with a wink (and a background check) followed by endless laughter and a very strict rule: always have your next vacation planned.

CAITLIN & MICHAEL

The end of March brought a frosty weekend for tall dark and handsome Michael and the gorgeous girl next door Caitlin! This happy couple met at grad school at SLU so it was only fitting that they said their vows at College Church!

We worked with Caitlin and Michael long distance for over a year carefully curating all the details of their celebration of love with, their guests experience at heart!

MAGGIE & CHRIS

April showers stayed away for Chris and Maggie’s wedding (yay) as they were surrounded by the most beautiful spring time blooms!

They danced the night away (and enjoyed yummy cupcakes from The Cakery) at the St. Louis Art Museum- adorned by the talented Kirkwood Florist.

Maggie and Chris had just about given up on online dating when they each reluctantly decided, one more date. Thank goodness because that first date at a crowded coffee shop on a rainy day ended up turning into a lifetime of love!

MORGAN & KYLE

We spent a sunny May weekend at Innsbrook with Morgan and Kyle for a beautiful lake front ceremony followed by an even more breathtaking reception – shout out to our girls at An Affair to Remember!

Rockstar DJs, Sarah’s Cake Shop and Unique Moments were some of the star players at this unforgettable wedding day! Speaking of unforgettable, Morgan and Kyle have stayed such good friends! We are meeting for glitter bites next month! These client relationships that blossom into forever friendships are the absolute best part of our jobs!

LIZ & JOEY

Our power couple Liz and Joey flew in from New York for their Memorial Day weekend celebration at the Jefferson Underground!
SugarFire wowed us with a delicious barbecue buffet followed by cobblers and pies a la mode for dessert but even more wow factor was all the family and friends who came together to transform the industrial venue into a soft candle lit floral dream!

What we loved about this wedding was that the ceremony was so personal! Both sets of parents walked them each down the aisle, their darling dog Noodle delivered the rings, a dear friend Shira performed the ceremony and included a unifying whiskey toast and words of wisdom from the aunts. Everything about the day was special and personal, right down to her dress which was handmade by her cousin.

KIMBER & KYLE

June was naturally a busy month! We started a rainy day off with Kimber and Kyle, high school sweethearts from St. Louis who celebrated their big day at Union Station– Hands down one of our favorite venues!
Due to the rain we had to move indoors but I tell you it was even more perfect than imagined!

Artistry florist brought the most breathtaking blooms and our friends at The Cakery never disappoint with their butter cream dreams! We had so much fun with Belleza Salon, Rockstar DJ’s and of course our dear friends of Shadow and Light!

Our favorite part of the day was getting ready. Kimber and Kyle wrote the sweetest notes to each other and helping them perfect the finishing touches before their first look was priceless.

ELENA & PATRICK

The next day we headed down the street to Lumen to set up a dreamy wedding day with our best gals at Sisters Floral for Elena and Patrick!
Elena and Patrick are also high school sweethearts and fresh college grads who hosted the most intimate wedding day complete with bingo, Puerto Rican appetizers (a nod to her dad), salsa lessons and caricatures for guests as a party favor.

As per usual 23 City Blocks killed it in the culinary department and even topped the evening off with signature cocktails served in coconuts!

We loved getting to know Elena, Patrick and their families, especially her parents and incorporating elements of their relationship and family background into the details of their day! {Elena if you are reading this, I’m still holding you accountable for our dinner date!} We loved working along side Elizabeth and Patrick Lloyd, Matt with Noji’s Wedding EntertainmentSisters and Casey Casum of 23 City Blocks!

MELISSA & BRET

We headed to Silver Oaks Chateau at the end of June to celebrate Melissa and Bret! Because Melissa and Bret lived in Colorado and had very busy work schedules (she’s a nurse and he’s a fireman) we worked alongside Melissa’s mom, Ida, planning their big day and we had so much fun talking cake, flowers, and menu with her! So much fun in fact we are headed to visit her next week to meet her new puppies! This gorgeous day came together with a wonderful team of vendors: Shadow and Light, The Glam Fam, Steven Mueller Florist, 23 City Blocks Catering, Unique Moments, Mia Grace and Cake House Design! As always team work makes the dream work!

JESSICA & RYAN

Fast forward to September and our team has another double wedding weekend starting at The Caramel Room celebrating Jessica and Ryan. We worked along side An Affair to Remember, Elizabeth and Patrick Lloyd, Unique Moments, Sarah’s Cake Shop and Griffin and the Gargoyles!

Jess and Ryan are longtime sweethearts who together with St. Louis Officiant created a personal and heartfelt ceremony that took place under a gorgeous floral arbor on the rooftop!

We loved working with these two on all of their wedding details from vendor recommendations to floral and invite design and of course execution of wedding weekend. Watch their wedding vid by Shadow & Light HERE!

To see everything come together as the couple has envisioned is so rewarding and watching our couples experience all the joyous moments of the day while we handle to rest is truly the best.

Stay tuned for round 2 because 2018 was one hell of a year that deserves more screen time, but we didn’t want to wear you out. So take your intermission, grab a snack and get ready for the last 4 months of magic!
