On our first meeting with Jenny + Collin, they told me all about their first date.

Jenny’s on-line dating profile had two truths + a lie. If Collin could guess the lie, she agreed to buy him a drink. And guess the lie he did!

The rest is history.

During that first call, we talked about what they envisioned for their day + the very sensitive subject of not being on the same page with mom + dad on all the things.

And y’all, lemme tell you, that is just real life. No matter how great you get along with your parents, your partner + their parents, chances are, you are not all going to agree 100% of the time.

And that is OK.

At that point of their planning process, they had been to 8 venues, + had 7 tours scheduled for the next weekend. Mama bear wanted an elegant ballroom vibe + J+C felt the comfiest with an industrial modern, minimalist vibe.

They eventually all settled on the Anheuser Busch Biergarten. This place too held a special meaning for J+C. When Jenny brought Collin to her home town for the first time, she brought him to AB for a tour! So that instagrammable brick “Cheers” wall most definitely had to make its way into wedding day.

As did a clydesdale.

Some things, your planner just won’t let go. For J+C’s wedding, it was having a Clydesdale greeting guests as they arrived. Now I will admit, I did try talking the fam into adorning the horse with a big floral wreath but that was one suggestion that did not get approved lol.

Our planning process was about 15 months long + for 15 months, the 5 of us (SSD, J + C, + mama + papa bear) had regular meetings, + loads of emails back + forth…. Nearly every one ending with a good old fashioned dad joke from Bob. We sure do miss his jokes!!!

I know we talk + talk about our BEST DAY EVERS + really they are pretty freaking splendid! But we do love the planning process. Building + creating all while incorporating the sweetest sentimental details.

Speaking of sweets, this dessert display by Cake House Design was killer.

Watching our clients see their party for the first time is pretty hard to beat. Check out these first look photos

Between Heather at AB, Roses + Mint, a drool-worthy dessert table, gold flat ware from Styled + Staged, + a classic ice sculpture, we nailed it wouldn’t you say?

Their love story started in Chicago + we celebrated in her home town of St. Louis with some of the best wedding pros in the industry on a most gorgeous, most unforgettable May weekend!

As always, thank you to the wonderful vendor team that made this day happen!
